Nobody wants to experience problems with the cooling system in the heat of the summer, which is why Wilmink Engine Parts has listed three of the most important cooling products. These parts must be replaced from time to time, or are often the cause of a defect in the cooling system. Our specialists will be happy to inform you about these parts, the most common defects and what we can do for you. Then your customers will be prepared and 'cool' for the summer!
The water pump (or coolant pump) is one of our most popular products in the refrigeration product group. This component ensures that coolant flows through the engine block, cooling channels, radiator and heater. The water pump is often driven by the timing belt, which is also available as a complete kit together with the water pump. The water pump comes as different versions: the mechanical water pump, electric water pump and circulation water pump.
Over time water pumps may fail due to factors such as wear and tear and old coolant which offers reduced lubrication. A water pump should be replaced in time, because an overheated engine can cause serious damage.
Another defect is leakage from the water pump due to leaking seals and O-rings. When installing a new water pump we always recommend replacing the seals and O-rings. According to the INA brand, these leaks and the resulting bearing damage are the cause of a defective water pump in around 85% of cases. This is why the brand uses specific materials for its water pump seals, which not only make the system seal well, but also make it resistant to extreme thermal shocks and particles that circulate in the coolant. This makes INA water pumps reliable for a long time.
Wilmink Engine Parts offers a wide range of water pumps of different brands and for various applications. We have various water pumps from brands such as INA, Continental, SWAG and Pierburg. For example, the Continental brand has different types of water pumps for more than 50 million vehicles in Europe such as the electric water pump in this video:
In addition to a water pump, a thermostat is also important for regulating the correct temperature of the engine. Coolant is circulated around the cooling system by the water pump, while the thermostat ensures that the coolant is circulated through the radiator or a shortened cooling circuit. The short cooling circuit ensures that the engine heats up more quickly, thus reducing fuel consumption and improving emissions.
If the thermostat is defective, it is usually open. The result is that the engine is over-cooled, which leads to increased fuel consumption. A thermostat cannot be repaired and must always be replaced. We also always recommend replacing the gaskets and O-rings together with the thermostat.
Besides appropriate advice from our specialists, we offer a diverse range of quality thermostats. Brands such as Hoffer Products, Pierburg and MAHLE are part of our range.
The third, and by no means least important, component is the radiator. Radiator doors are made of thin aluminium to quickly absorb heat and release it to cool the engine.
A radiator can fail in various ways. Thin aluminium, for example, is vulnerable to damage such as stone chippings, or may degrade over time and cause leaks. When there is a clogged, leaking or broken radiator it must be replaced. It is also wise to check the cooling hoses and renew them where necessary.
Our company has various radiators from Denso and NRF. The Dutch company NRF is internationally known as a high-quality manufacturer and supplier of radiator valves for, among others, passenger cars, trucks, industrial and agricultural vehicles. NRF is known for its innovation, high cooling capacity and durability.
