Engine cylinder heads are crucial components for internal combustion engines and play a vital role in engine efficiency and performance. Cylinder heads are typically cast from aluminum or iron and mounted on the engine block using fasteners such as bolts or a stud, washer, and nut combination to secure to the engine block. The primary function of the cylinder head is to seal the top of the combustion chamber, which enables the engine to build up pressure during the combustion process. The sealing surfaces of the engine block and cylinder head utilize a head gasket to ensure cylinder pressure and coolant passages are sealed.
Engine cylinder heads are commonly manufactured from iron or aluminum depending on their targeted cost and performance requirements. Iron cylinder heads are more economical to cast but weigh more than their aluminum counterparts. Aluminum cylinder heads weigh less than iron, cost more to produce, and can be less durable than their iron competitors.
We offer replacement cylinder heads in both iron and aluminum variations from some of the best manufacturers such as AFR, Edelbrock, Kolbenschmidt, and Amadeo Martí Carbonell Ltd. (AMC). These brands offer a range of economical direct replacements for OEM applications with the ability to customize for performance applications.
On the Wilmink Engine Parts' shelves, you will find cylinder heads in many stages of assembly: bare cylinder heads, cylinder heads including valves and springs, and complete cylinder heads with valves, springs, and camshafts. Both petrol and diesel engine cylinder heads are available, plus AMC has a wide range of cylinder heads available for larger industrial engines.
Our advantage over our competitors is that we work with the best suppliers like AMC that can do everything themselves. Designing, casting, machining, and finishing the cylinder head, from initial design to final product, keeps the quality exceptional while decreasing manufacturing and service time. This is especially important in heavy-duty applications where breakdown and interruption can be costly. Wilmink does its best to supply parts for industrial diesel engines and petrol engines as quickly as possible.

Considering the number of rotating and moving parts, the cylinder head is the most complex part of a combustion engine. We offer everything concerning the cylinder head for both diesel and petrol engines. In many cases, it is more economical to replace a complete cylinder head as a whole assembly rather than just replace the worn or damaged components. This can save time and money, and you are assured of the quality of a new product.
When looking through our website, you will find complete cylinder heads for petrol and diesel engines, both new and reconditioned. This includes engines that utilize air-cooled and water-cooled cylinder heads. New cylinder heads will be verified through a quality inspection before assembly with new components such as valves, springs, and retainers. Overhead camshaft cylinder head variations will also be assembled with new camshafts and bearings. Reconditioned cylinder heads are thoroughly inspected to ensure no cracks are present and the sealing surfaces are not warped or damaged from overheating. This ensures the cylinder heads will seal properly with other components when new gaskets are applied.
Before purchasing one or more new or reconditioned cylinder heads, you should check if your current unit(s) can be reused and simply overhauled. Checking for cracks can be completed with a dye penetrant test which uses a specialized dye on the surface of the cylinder head to reveal cracks. On cast iron cylinder heads, a magnetic particle inspection can be done, which can also identify cracks or other anomalies in the cylinder head. Each of these can be by a qualified professional. The sealing surfaces can be checked using dial indicators and a quality straight edge, and it again can be done by a qualified professional.
If you find that your current cylinder head is in good condition for reuse, it can be cleaned and reassembled with new components. This may be a better value from a cost perspective depending on your application and situation. We offer both options, complete cylinder heads, and the individual components, to ensure you can complete the job quickly and efficiently using the best components.
