Lubrication of the engine block is crucial for operation; if there is no or insufficient lubrication, engine damage will occur within seconds. The oil lubricating film is lost and this causes the friction and heat between the contact surfaces to become extremely high, resulting in wear/defect. The oil pump circulates oil throughout the engine block and oil filter. The oil pump is mounted at the bottom of the engine block with a suction tube in the crankcase to suck in oil (unless it is a dry-sump lubrication system). The oil pump is driven by the oil pump drive shaft or by means of a chain transmission. A defective oil pump is often caused by age (wear and tear) or a clogged suction strainer. As a result, an oil pump can no longer suck in sufficient oil, producing the above mentioned consequences.
In this category you can find all the parts needed for the lubrication of your vehicle. From oil pump to oil cooler and from crankcase ventilation to oil nozzles. If you have any questions or would like advice, please contact our product specialists. They will be happy to assist you.
An oil pump is driven by a chain or directly via an oil pump drive shaft.
The oil pump drive shaft provides the mechanical connection between the crankshaft and the oil pump for the benefit of the oil pressure in the engine block. A defective oil pump drive shaft has disastrous consequences for the engine as oil pressure is vital for the engine. Here you will find the right drive shaft for your oil pump.
The oil pump circulates oil throughout the engine block and oil filter. This is vitally important for the engine; when the oil pump stops working, the oil pressure drops and enormous internal damage occurs in the engine. The oil lubrication film is lost, causing the friction between the contact surfaces to become extremely high, which results in wear/defect. The oil pump is mounted at the bottom of the engine block with a suction tube in the crankcase to suck in oil (unless it is a dry-sump lubrication system). As a result, an oil pump can no longer suck in sufficient oil, producing the above mentioned consequences.
An adapter on the oil filter, also called a sandwich adapter, is used to distribute the oil from the oil filter housing. This can be for the connection of an external oil cooler or an oil supply pipe to the turbocharger. You will find the right adapter for your oil filter here.
On some cars an external oil cooler is installed to control the temperature management accurately. There are oil coolers to cool the engine oil, the automatic transmission oil and, in some cases, even the differential. Oil coolers are connected to the oil circuit of the car so hot oil is pumped to the oil cooler. The oil cooler, in turn, cools the oil before it comes back into the crankcase to be pumped around again by the engine. Oil coolers are reasonably sensitive to damage caused by stone chippings and similar because the oil cooler is mounted low. Replace an old oil cooler in good time, to prevent leakage.
A crankcase breather or crankcase ventilation is intended to extract vapours from the crankcase. Under the pistons (in the crankcase) is air mixed with oil vapour and a small amount of fuel vapour which leaks along the pistons. These vapours must be extracted and returned to the engine via the intake section. In this way the fumes are combusted in the next combustion process. Because oil vapours are greasy, in the long run this can cause internal contamination on the throttle valve, intake manifold and inlet valves, among other things. Over time, this can cause a wide variety of malfunctions, such as blocked crankcase ventilation, increased crankcase pressure, a poorly running engine, and so on. Here you will find various parts for the crankcase ventilation system of your car. If you have any questions or would like advice, please contact our product specialists. An oil deflector is used to ensure that oil flows through the system in a certain way. In some crankcase pans, deflector plates are used to ensure that the oil does not run off too quickly in some locations and that it does in others. This type of deflector is also used in the lubrication system of a turbocharger for optimum lubrication.
The oil pump suction pipe is attached to the oil pump and discharges into the crankcase pan (unless it is a dry-sump lubrication system). The suction pipe ensures the supply of fresh engine oil from the crankcase to the oil pump, which in turn pumps it throughout the engine block. A sieve is mounted on the oil pump suction pipe; it is recommended to clean this thoroughly before mounting the new suction pipe.
Here you will find the right magnetic drain plug for your crankcase pan. The advantage of a magnetic drain plug compared to a normal drain plug is that metal remnants remain attached to the magnet and do not circulate back into the motor block.
This assembly kit contains all the components required to assemble and connect an oil cooler (oil cooler itself not included). This kit includes hose clamps, oil pipe and mounting brackets. Preheating facilities of the engine oil are mostly used in cars and trucks operating in cold climates. Preheating increases the chance of starting the engine and reduces wear and emissions, as the engine is already (partly) warmed up.
In some engine blocks an oil bypass is installed to take oil to a place where it does not go via the normal oil circuit. This provides extra lubrication in hard-to-reach places.
An oil separator is mounted in the crankcase ventilation system to filter the oil vapours out of the crankcase. In this way, these oil vapours do not enter the inlet for combustion but are separated. Over time, this part may become clogged, impeding the operation of the crankcase ventilation.
The oil limiter is a small rubber plug that can be placed in an oil line to limit the throughput of oil. The oil limiter does this by reducing the effective inner diameter of the pipe.
The oil pressure switch monitors whether the oil pressure in the engine block is sufficiently high. If this is not the case, the oil pressure light in the dashboard illuminates and the engine must be turned off immediately to prevent consequential damage. The oil pressure switch is often mounted in or near the oil filter housing.
Here you will find various oil pipes suitable for your vehicle. Think, for example, of the oil pipe that runs towards the turbocharger to provide it with oil for lubrication. Leaking oil pipes can result in lower oil pressure, possibly resulting in increased wear on certain components in the engine block.
The oil rail is the hard version of an oil pipe. This rail allows high-pressure oil to be pumped around to a different place in the engine block. In some types of cars these are known to tear, resulting in lower oil pressure in the rail.
The oil jet is mounted on the underside of the cylinders for piston-bottom cooling and cylinder wall lubrication. Oil is dispersed under pressure through the oil jet. If maintenance intervals are (too) long or if the quality of the oil is poor, these oil jets can become clogged, causing a lack of lubrication and cooling.
An oil non-return valve is used to ensure that oil can only flow in one direction. This non-return valve can, for example, be mounted in an oil pipe to prevent oil from flowing back.
When the oil pump is worn out and/or the yield is insufficient, it can be repaired by means of a repair kit. This is often due to polluted or outdated oil which causes the oil pump to wear out. The oil pump repair kit includes a new pump element (the rotating part in the oil pump).
