No exception in the automotive world: two brothers at the cradle of a company that played and continues to play an important role in the German automotive industry. Hugo and Victor Reinz. Best known for their pioneering role in solving a major problem facing the still young car factories: leaking cooling water and pressure loss in the pistons due to unwanted gas escape. The gasket that cleverly dealt with this (an invention of brother Hugo), the 'Reinz-Spezial', was patented in 1934. From then on, Victor Reinz started producing good gaskets on a large scale in Berlin; almost every European car brand decided to use them. Legendary, classic racing cars like the Auto Union Typ C and the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow were equipped with them. Nowadays, the two family businesses join forces in the Dana Corporation, but you can still recognise a good gasket by the iconic Victor Reinz brand name. Obviously always in stock at Wilmink Engine Parts.
